He developed the master level training program for the Department of the Treasury of the Australian federal government and was ranked among the best 25 economists in Australia during 1988-2000 by the American Economic Association.

Professor Shi was appointed as a senior consultant for the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and provided technical support for the negotiation of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement. A forecaster and commentator in the fields of the social and economic developments in Australia and China, economic reforms in China, Australia-China trade and investment, and world economic outlook, Professor Shi brings a wealth of experience and economic oversight to the Ferndale Capital Advisory Board.

Nick has over 40 years’ experience in the financial services and investment management sectors in the UK, Middle East, and Australia. Nick was the chief executive of Corporate Super Association and is currently its deputy chair risk and audit. He is a university lecturer in fintech, the chosen field of study for his PhD. His expertise at senior management level in technology, superannuation, trustee & investment services are an invaluable resource to the Ferndale Capital Advisory Board and committees.

Mark came from a background in law before taking the reins of the family business, Pomeroy Pacific. In his position, Mark is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and operations of the Pomeroy Pacific business. Mark is known for his unparalleled ability to create ‘the deal’ but also for his appetite for consistent and unrelenting hard work. He is strategic about the way he works, continually seeking a better way for the benefit of the business and clients. Mark joins the Ferndale Capital Advisory Board with a clear remit, to oversee all property related transactions and fund investments.

Alex is finance professional with over 25 years’ experience partnering with Director’s, CEO’s, General Managers, and senior leadership teams. Alex has a breadth of experience across small business and corporate business functions including finance, management information, planning & appraisal and governance.

Formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Business Law) and a CA from The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. Career highlights include 15 years at Shell Australia, with the last 3 years as Finance Manager of the Retail (Service Station) division, working closely with the Coles Express leadership team. Alex has more recently developed CFO skills in two start-up businesses: one in the biotech industry and the other in the skin care industry. During this time Alex was also heavily involved in capital raising. Alex commenced her career at KPMG spending 4 years in the Audit team.

Michael has over 40 years of experience in financial services, funds management and banking. His experience across lending, compliance and relationship management (with multiple client sectors), has been gained with several ASX listed companies and banks (NAB, Suncorp, BankWest, HSBC) and financial service groups and private fund managers and lenders. As a result, Michael has significant experience in the preparation, structuring, and management of debt financing and capital structuring. As a responsible manager of AFS licensees, Michael is experienced in capital raising and funds management activities including distribution and marketing, and compliance and risk requirements of managed investment schemes.

Varuna is responsible for investor relations at Ferndale as Director Distribution, bringing over 15 years’ industry experience with capital markets, corporate finance, and investor distribution solutions. Prior to joining Ferndale Capital, Varuna spent over 12 years at National Australia Bank and was involved in several growth businesses which included private capital markets, financial markets hedging solutions, institutional credit sales, subinstitutional investor sales, private banking investment solutions, corporate finance, global banking operations and strategic projects targeting initiatives both locally and globally. He was also one of the founders that successfully launched a property technology company and guided that business from its infancy through high growth into a profitable provider of technology solutions for the property management sector.

Most recently, Varuna has been involved in the alternative investment sectors predominantly focussing on designing & marketing investor friendly solutions to wholesale investors by leveraging his diverse banking and entrepreneurial experience.
